The Kachin Development Group (KDG) is a locally initiated development organization working to improve the wellbeing of the marginalized, poor, and underprivileged populations in Kachin State and northern Shan State of Myanmar since its founding year of 2005. The organization is an independent and non-profit charity organization striving towards achieving a "happy, healthy, and free society" through local-led integrated sustainable development initiatives.
Based on the given situation in the country, KDG is also engaging in humanitarian assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs). The IDPs have been forced to displace due to the devastating fighting that has been re-empted in 2011 after a brief seventeen-year cease-fire pause between the Kachin ethnic resistance organization and the Myanmar government army.
The current programmes that KDG has been focusing on are humanitarian assistance programmes and community development programmes. These programmes include targeting persons with disabilities (PWDs), children and young people, women, extremely vulnerable individuals, and forest and environmental protection.
